The decay and distress of surfaces have embedded stories of their original purpose over time. Occasionally these create beautiful textures and colours. I am amazed how the ordinary can be alluring in its own way. In my work I try to show this by presenting a different standpoint.
This artwork is created using various digital technologies. Here I have used a mixture of camera and computer generated artworks originally inspired by decaying surfaces that I found. These particular ones are weathered boat hulls found in various boatyards. Some waiting to be repainted, some abandoned. I love the different colours, textures and patterns the hulls develop over their time in the water and out. The final images, to me, reveal surreal and unexpected landscapes.
